The Night Song

With the night comes many and varied challenges. Whether you are afraid of the darkness, distressed in the still silence, anxious with a mind that will not stop running in circles, doubting truths that lose their certainty in the waning of the light, or moving through a season of darkness, spiritual, relational, or symbolic, the night does not discriminate based on age or economic status. We will all face it in our own way.

But we need to remember what is true. To our God, even the darkness is light to Him. He will not slumber, nor sleep in His protection over us. And his loving rule and endless supremacy extend to every corner of existence, dark or light.

Rely on the God of goodness and light. He will keep you through your night, as a father watches over his children.

And so join us, young and old, in churches, in hospitals, in stadiums, or by the bedside, in singing The Night Song.

Verse 1
In the darkness God will keep me
He will stay and never sleep
In the darkness God is brighter
Though the night is long and deep

Chorus
All this day Your hand has held me
God of Heaven, by my side
Thank you, Father, for Your goodness
You will hold me through the night

Verse 2
In the shadows You are with me
And you know my every fear
In the shadows none can harm me
For the mighty King is here

Chorus
All this day Your hand has held me
God of Heaven, by my side
Thank you, Father, for Your goodness
You will hold me through the night

Verse 3
So I find my rest in Jesus
He who came to rescue me
Jesus saved me from the darkness
I will rise to life with him

Chorus
All this day Your hand has held me
God of Heaven, by my side
Thank you, Father, for Your goodness
You will hold me through the night
